The Power of Stories in Learning
Stories have a special way of teaching lessons that facts alone cannot. At CNCS, storytelling is woven into our classrooms and chapels—not only through books, but also through the stories of faith, history, and the experiences of our students.
This November, as the days grow shorter and we spend more time indoors, our teachers are highlighting the power of stories to connect us to each other and to deeper truths. Whether it’s a tale from Scripture, a novel read aloud in class, or a student sharing about their own life, stories open the door to imagination, empathy, and understanding.
By listening and retelling, our students learn how to see the world through another’s eyes, and how their own story matters in the bigger picture.
Reflection Question for Families:
Take turns sharing a “story from your day” at home—something small or big that taught you a lesson, made you laugh, or gave you something to think about.
